Welcome to Foundation
The children in Foundation have settled in beautifully and have made an excellent start to the new term. They are joining in with lots of exciting activities and are getting used to the routines very quickly.
We learn outside on a Tuesday and this is called 'Trekking'. When we go trekking, we care for our chickens, have a go at balancing on the trim trail, make pictures out of natural objects that we find, play games, go on minibeast hunts and get involved in other things that we would not usually do inside of the classroom. On Fridays, we visit Ravenshead Library where we change our books and listen to a story read by the Librarian.
In Foundation, we mostly learn through play, and fun, hands on, real life experiences. We are currently working on our fine motor skills, relationships with other people, sharing, speaking and listening.
A huge thank-you to the ladies at Ravenshead Library who put on a fabulous seaside art and craft morning for our Foundation children!
We love technology!
In F2, we love to explore different technology. We often use digital cameras, beebots, the interactive whiteboard, iPad, old mobile phones and talking whiteboards. We also use technology to help us with our baking, such as the microwave, popcorn maker and hand blender. However, today we did something even more...
The World Around Us

F1 Tag Rugby
The F1 children enjoyed a fun session of tag rugby with Archie the Stag from Nottingham Rugby Club. They ran relay races with rugby balls.
Visiting the Park
At the start of their new 'Parks and Gardens' topic, Mrs Kitching asked F2 what they would like to find out. One answer was 'more about parks' hence our fun trip to the park this afternoon!
F2 enjoyed a spot of pond dipping this afternoon as part of their 'Parks and Gardens' topic. They caught water snails, dragonfly nymph, fly larvae, water fleas and pond weed!
Fun at Twycross Zoo!
On Tuesday this week, Foundation boarded a big yellow bus and set off for Twycross Zoo as part of their 'Safari' topic. They had a brilliant time looking at all of the animals, eating their lunch and having some hands on small animal experience in a workshop in the afternnon....
Snow is falling…
F2 have been having lots of fun exploring the snow today! They have built a snowman (Olaf, in fact), made snow angels and looked at their footprints on the ground. They even tried counting how many snowflakes were falling, but found it very tricky!
F2 did some AMAZING gymnastics yesterday! They worked hard on their tucks and star shapes and could not wait to show other people what they had learnt... They were also very brave with their climbing and did not give up when they were finding things tricky. Mrs Kitching is very...
