Welcome to Year 6
Being in Year 6 at Abbey Gates is a special and memorable time. Mr Summers, Mrs Miles and the children endeavour to work hard whilst having lots of fun along the way!
In the Autumn term our topic is 'World War II' where the children will learn about the Second World War in Europe and why the Battle of Britain was such a significant turning point in British History. Lots of our Literacy will be based on our topic work as well as our work in other topics such as Geography, Art, and Drama. We will be visiting Joseph Whitaker for sports on Wednesday afternoons and will also benefit from basketball coaching this term. In October we will be attending a residential visit to PGL, in Lincolnshire. It will be an action-packed weekend where children will take part in a variety of activities such as: abseiling, climbing, fencing and the high ropes of course!
We will also be busy during the Spring Term with SATs revision and the tests in May. We are also looking forward to lots of exciting events in the Summer Term including Arts Week, Sports Day, the Summer Fayre, - so lots more fun on the horizon!!
