REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL…

PART 1… QUEEN BEE!

The inaugural Abbey Gates Spelling Bee found us buzzing with excitement! Well done to all who took part in the grand final:

Peter in Y1

Jack in Y2

Kavita in Y3

Leo in Y4

James Y5

Lily in Y6

Kavita was Queen Bee- with all of her spellings correct!

Great Progress awards went to:

Shannon in Y1

Ben in Y2

Charlie in Y3

Ayden in Y4

Olivia in Y5

Holly in Y6

PART 2…WORLD CHAMPION!

We are so proud of Louis Holloway in Y5 who is WMKF world Karate champion for his age group- wow!

PART 3…AREA AND COUNTY CHAMPIONS!

Members of our cross country team represented the Gedling area in the Nottinghamshire finals:

Jacob in Y4

Eleanor H in Y5

Aaliyah and Beth in Y6

All of these children are the elite runners in their age group with Beth the fastest girl in the county!

Sam Pand Sophie C (Y5) swam in the County championships on the same day- well done to our aquatic achievers!

PART 4…LITTER HEROES!

We are thrilled to announce that children from Abbey Gates have won first and second place in the recent Gedling Borough Council competition to design a superhero to promote tidiness! (Are their bedrooms tidy I wonder?)

Isobel and Minnie (Y5) have been invited to the Mayor’s parlour to collect their prize!

PART 5…EVEN MORE SUCCESS!

The Inman brothers, Louis and Noah (Y2 and 6) are champion cyclists in the British schools cycling event – are they the new Brownlees?

Elliott in Y6 is playing for the Mansfield Town youth team and Olly (Y2) has been talent spotted for her gymnastic ability.

We are so proud of all of the children here at school and know that there are many other things to be proud of- too many to mention here- but hope you have enjoyed sharing our success!
