Welcome to Year 2
Welcome to Year 2 with Mr Morris and Mrs Slater-Davison! Being in Upper KS1 is an exciting and important time as the children are the oldest in the infants and so have a responsibility to show the younger children how to behave and enjoy school life. Following on from Year 1, we use a very creative and fun curriculum to help the children develop and improve their skills in all areas of learning. We enjoy having our own bank of laptops in the classroom and access to the Foundation garden where we can take our learning outdoors. Learning to 'have a go' and trying our best is crucial to Yeat 2 and we explore ways to improve our confidence and self-esteem, to make ourselves the best learners that we can be. Keep an eye on this page to see what exciting activities we have been getting up to!

JWS Multi skills festival
Last week we visited Joseph Whitaker school for a multi skills festival. We practised our balancing skills, ball skills and team game skills. Lots of fun was had by all!
During "Welly Wednesday" we collected leaves and made masks for nature heroes. We looked online to explore the nature trust and find out about how they protect our environment and our wildlife.
We launched our topic with a superhero dress up day. We practised our skills on the iPad by taking pictures of each other in different superhero poses.
This week we used music and ribbons to create a firework dance. We built a bonfire with leaves and twigs and danced around it, using high and low movements, twirls and jumps. Finally we added music to make the sounds of different fireworks and made our movements match the sounds....
Teddy Bear Picnic
To celebrate the end of our memory box topic, we invited our teddy bears to an extra special picnic. We designed, made and evaluated a range of sandwiches and played circle games. We had a fabulous day.... we think our teddy bears did too!
The Wild West
Foundation have loved learning about The Wild West. They have been visited by Cowgirls on their horses and Sheriff Kelvin and have made their own tepees and dreamcatchers!
Egg decorating, egg rolling and an egg hunt solving clues!
Our Christian Experience
On Tuesday, Foundation and Key Stage 1 got together to explore the Easter Story through art, song and reflection. They spent all morning working in mixed year group teams, and made their way around 8 stations throughout school, where they made twig crosses, re-enacted the Last Supper, made palms, reflected in the...
We were very lucky in the FSU to see the chicks hatch before our eyes and even got the chance to hold them!
