Welcome to Year 4
Welcome to Year 4 from Miss Nash and Mrs Wilson!
In Year 4, the children have the opportunity to build on their successes from their time in Year 3. They are now well into the swing of things in Key Stage 2 and looking forward to the year ahead. In Year 4, we always try our best, have a go and we are not afraid to make mistakes.
We will be exploring lots of exciting, engaging and interesting cross-curricular topics this year such as 'Ancient Egypt', 'Burps Bottoms and Bile' and 'Chocolate'. Some of these topics will have a Creative Homework project linked to them, giving us the opportunity to show our interests, strengths and talents.
Regular reading at home and school will be encouraged along with an emphasis on learning times tables and the spelling of key words - as these skills will all help greatly with the English and Maths topics in Year 4. Children are expected to read at least 3 times a week; tihs should be recorded in their pupil planner.
Please ensure your child has their PE kit in school and a water bottle.
Miss Nash, Mrs Wilson and the children promise to work hard so that we are able to be the best we can be!
Keep checking out our page to see what we get up to!
Tribal Times Launch
The Year 3 class really enjoyed the launch of their new topic: Tribal Times. The children were transported back to the Stone Age, where they discovered all about Cave Paintings and "contributed" towards the Abbey Gates Cave. We are really excited about what the children are going to learn in this...
Divas for Diwali
This week we completed our topic on Hinduism, looking at the festival of Diwali, by adding colour to our divas. After researching divas to get some inspiration, we designed our own before molding them from clay. Then Year 2 worked really hard to add intricate patterns in bright, vibrant colours. We...
Our Christian Experience
On Tuesday, Foundation and Key Stage 1 got together to explore the Easter Story through art, song and reflection. They spent all morning working in mixed year group teams, and made their way around 8 stations throughout school, where they made twig crosses, re-enacted the Last Supper, made palms, reflected in the...
Year 1 displays!
Look at the wonderful displays in Year 1 showing our shoebox imaginary worlds and fantastic artwork inspired by Matisse, Kandinsky and Mondrian.
Mad Hatter’s tea party.
We had an exciting few days decorating cakes and making fairy teacups, making magical worlds and using our money knowedge to buy cakes for the Mad Hatter's tea party. Thank you to the parents for providing cakes and shoe boxes, the children had a lovely time.
Year 1 had lots of fun making firework patterns from leaves today. We also searched for number rockets which had landed all over the school grounds. We added and subtracted the numbers together.
We explored the school grounds and found lots of seasonal changes. We identified different leaves and worked in teams to build the biggest leaf pile.
We collected lots of apples from the school garden and baked delicious apple crumbles.
Today we have been learning all about the festival of light called Divali.
Mansfield Museum Year 1
Year One visited Mansfield Museum and enjoyed the activities based on the Nick Sharratt stories.
