Welcome to Year 5
Welcome to Year 5!
In Upper Key Stage 2, the children are now preparing themselves to be role models for the younger children. We have a ‘can-do’ attitude towards our work and learning.
In Year 5, we love to learn. Our teacher and teaching assistant ensure that our learning is fun, but focussed on helping us to be the best we can be!
In Autumn 1 our question is ‘Is there anything out there?’
Regular reading at home and school will be encouraged - after all reading is the foundation for all other learning to take place from. We will also have an emphasis on learning times tables and the spelling of key words.
Mr Summers, Mr Martin and the children promise to work hard so that we are able to be the best we can be!
Keep checking out our page to see what we get up to!
Here are some useful web links to support learning at home:
Egg decorating, egg rolling and an egg hunt solving clues!
Our Christian Experience

We were very lucky in the FSU to see the chicks hatch before our eyes and even got the chance to hold them!
During trekking this week we used the nets and tanks to see what we could find in our pond. We were so excited to find lots of frogspawn which we looked closely at back in the classroom. We even got to see some very tiny tadpoles!
Today Foundation were very lucky to have a visit from the Fire Service. We learnt all about fire safety, looked inside a fire engine and had a go at using the hose!
The Three Little Pigs
Foundation are loving their 'Fantastic Fairytales' topic. We launched it with a dress up day and since then have been busy designing houses, retelling stories and building dens.
Yorkshire Wildlife Park
As part of Trekking Tuesday and our topic "Ourselves", the Foundation Stage Unit explored outside gathering natural materials. We found lots of twigs, leaves and acorns and the children worked together to make their faces. We made sure we included our eyes, nose and mouth and some children even used...
