Welcome to Year 6
Being in Year 6 at Abbey Gates is a special and memorable time. Mrs Jordan, Mrs O'Dea, Mrs Miles and the children endeavour to work hard whilst having lots of fun along the way!
In the Autumn term our topic is 'Storms and Shipwrecks' and we hope the subject will inspire our future writers, mathematicians, ship builders, designers and meteorologists. As well as our work in topic we will be visiting Joseph Whitaker for sports on Wednesday afternoons. In October we will be attending a residential visit to Kingswood. It will be an action-packed three days where children will take part in a variety of activities such as: abseiling, climbing, fencing and the high ropes of course!
We will also be busy during the Spring Term with SATs revision and the tests in May. We are also looking forward to lots of exciting events in the Summer Term including Sports Day, the Summer Fayre, - so lots more fun on the horizon!!

Re-telling ‘Stone Age Boy’.
Year 3 have been sharing a new narrative text this half, linked to our Stone Age topic, called 'Stone Age Boy' by Satoshi Kitamura. We 'story-mapped' the plot of the story and then went down to Year 2 to orally retell the story using only the story-map! Year 3 did a fine...
Wow!! What a wonderful Nativity! The children in Foundation and Key Stage 1 really made us proud with their super singing, delightful dancing and tremendous talking. 3 cheers for the cast of 2014...
Key Stage 1 had a great trip to Newstead Abbey. Here are some of the Year 2 photos for you to enjoy! What a super Victorian Christmas!
Let’s Stop Bullying for All!
Year 2 have been busy making their own video as part of Anti-Bullying Week. We think it sends a very powerful message. What do you think?
We thought carefully about where a minibeast would like to live. Have a look at what we made.
Have a look at what we found.
Giant African Snail
Would you be brave like some of the children in Year One and let a Giant African Snail sit on your arm?
