Ravenshead C of E vs Abbey Gates (League Match)
The Abbey Gates Boys football team played a league match on Thursday 29th of September against Ravenshead Church of England School (away). It was a very tough game.
A couple of seconds into the game Abbey Gates conceded a goal, which meant they were 1-0 down straight away. But after that, Abbey Gates got their confidence back up and started to attack more… eventually Alistair from Year 6 scored an amazing goal in the bottom left hand corner. This put the score level at 1-1. It was a very tight first half but finally the half-time whistle blew.
Once the second- half was underway, Abbey Gates were dominating possession and had lots of chances but just couldn’t score.
After an Abbey Gates attack, the C of E broke away but thankfully Abbey Gates still had some players back who cleared the ball out for a corner. Abbey Gates were very unlucky and accidentally scored an own goal – the defender was trying to clear it off the line but it deflected of his boot and went in (2-1).
After the goal, Abbey Gates kept pushing forwards until Elliot slotted the ball into the back of the net (2-2). Abbey Gates kept looking like they may score but sadly The C of E scored with 3 minutes of the game left and that made it 3-2.
What a great game ! Good luck to the team on Tuesday with the Cup match against Leen Mills (Home) – please come along and show your support.
