NEW ADVENTURES …
I will be joined in retirement at Easter by our Y6 duo Cathy Jordan and Flick Hatton. Officially Mrs Hatton retired two years ago but couldn’t stay away! It has been an absolute joy to work with such dedicated professionals.
Mrs Hatton has been associated with the school for over 25 years as a parent, governor and then as an amazing teacher. Her passion for horses and PE is legendary!
I first met Cathy at my previous school when I mentored her as a student teacher following her early career in design and it was obvious she would be outstanding so when the opportunity came to work together, Abbey Gates benefitted!
Both Cathy and Flick have dedicated themselves to the care and education of 100s of children. They have prepared these young people well for their next steps in education and life – THANK YOU, ENJOY YOUR WELL-DESERVED RETIREMENT!
We are currently recruiting and will share news of the new members of the team after half-term.
PANCAKES…
Today’s assembly celebrated Shrove Tuesday – which is next week- 16th February. A brief poll in school today found that favourite toppings included Nutella and lemon or orange juice in joint first place! Which is your favourite?
Chef Lisa is sharing her recipe…
120g plain flour
2 eggs
300ml milk
(butter to fry with)
Whip the ingredients well and leave in the fridge overnight (if you can bear to wait!!) then fry a large spoonful in butter and toss to prevent sticking.
Choose a topping and enjoy!
Speaking of recipes, Megan in Y5 has written a poem based on Benjamin Zephaniah’s “The British”. Do take a look on You Tube at Megan’s recipe for a school, serves all in the Abbey Gates family.

We will be thinking of Louise Whitworth and her best friend tomorrow as Louise donates her beautiful hair to the Princess Trust and fund raises for Macmillan. If you want to support her the link is below.
