SCHOOLS FOR PEACE
Abbey Gates are honoured to be part of this international project. Schools for Peace (Skole Za Mir) is a growing partnership between schools in the UK, Bosnia and Serbia. The purpose of the partnership is to help each partner school to make ‘peace making’ an important part of its educational and community life.
By ‘peace-making’ we mean helping pupils to understand the causes of conflict and ways of resolving it, and to develop skills in peace-making. The project will cover international and national peace-making, as well as peace-making in school and everyday community life.
Following her visit to Bosnia two years ago, Sam Taylor is returning there this weekend (returning on Wednesday next week) representing UK primary schools. She will share her learning with Abbey Gates and with all schools- we are proud of her!
The PTA Christmas hampers are looking fabulous - thank you everyone who has donated – now you have a chance to win one!
Look out for raffle tickets in your children’s bags next week. We will hold the draw at the KS2 carol concert on 19th December…Good Luck!
Great news, our midday team has three new members, Debra Kent, Sarah Woolley and Toni Arnold. We welcome them to the team at Abbey Gates and know they will ensure lunchtimes are happy and safe.
We are shocked at the number of children who are ill prepared for lunchtimes and playtimes - PLEASE ensure your children have coats, hats and gloves…brrrrr!
