WANT TO GET INVOLVED?

Huge thanks to Karen Jones for her sterling service as a Governor – we will miss you!  We now have a vacancy for a new parent Governor to continue Karen’s good work.

You will have received information and this is also on the website. If you would like to know more, do please come and talk to me, I will be happy to talk about this important role and the impact you can have on the school.

REMEMBRANCE

Our choir and Y6 children represented the school on Friday 9 November as part of the Remembrance service in the village centre. They sang with the children from the C of E School and we were proud of each of them for their exemplary attitude.

SPORTING SUCCESS

As ever, Abbey Gates continues to excel both at sport and in demonstrating how to be a good sport!

The boys’ football team have won recent games convincingly and progress through the league and cup competitions.

Y5/6 Basketball team members played extremely well last week.

Five children from the school will be representing Newark schools in the county cross country event in February.

They are:

Erin (7th) and Maja (11th) - Year 6

Jude (1st), Jacob (2nd) and Leo (11th) - Y6

I was proud of all who took part in the heats today as every child counted towards the team results. All who took part finished in the top 50%, with every girl in Y3/4 finishing with a top 20 place- amazing as this was their first race for many of them!

WE NEED YOU!

Thank you to all who have donated colourful Christmas Goodies for the PTA hampers. These were fabulous last year and raised an amazing amount of money. If you do become a governor this will give an insight in to why we must support the PTA.

We genuinely need the funds they and you raise. School funding has been slashed and we have to make difficult spending decisions every year. For example, the school spends more than £9000 each year on counselling and speech and language support as waiting lists are ridiculous and we know the impact early intervention can have.

Every item you can donate helps- just add a little something extra to your shopping list if you can – PLEASE!
