Newsletter - 22nd September 2017

Posted on 22nd September 2017

We have a number of families taking part in the Robin Hood marathon this Sunday 24 September (52 runners!). Did you know that as well as doing this for fun they are aiming to raise much needed funds for our school?

If every family sent in £5 to show their support we would raise nearly £750! Please use the Just Giving link or just send your donation in to the school office - I am looking forward to seeing the medals on Monday!

I am thrilled to report that we filled key roles at our PTA AGM last week and shared the amazing success of the past year! Huge thanks again to Caroline Hopkin, Karyn Robson and Lisa Roberts-Minto and welcome to Kerry Bosworth, Helen Boddice, Grace Pan-Lau and their great team!

Look out for a PTA newsletter soon with details of events and new ideas … do start to think about any ideas you have to share with us at Parents’ evenings.

Andrea Potts continues to do a sterling job coordinating our Scholastic book brochure. She needs a partner - could this be you? Please call in to school for further details!

Our governors met this week and re-appointed Colin Barnard as Chair, Ken Fallows will be vice-chair and we are in the process of co-opting two new governors to support and challenge the school to ensure we remain outstanding.

Matthew Homewood and Annette Wilson remain as co-opted governors with Karen Jones and Alex Dixon being parent governors and Lloyd Allington is our new staff governor.

A sincere message of thanks to Emma Arrell and Joe Sardone whose terms of office have recently ended.

Further information re school governance is on our website.

As you know we have new members on the staff team and I am also pleased to share the news of promotion for Sam Taylor who is our acting Assistant Head, supporting Paul Summers, our acting Deputy Head.

If you get the chance to pop in to the school hall you will see that we have cartoon children running around the wall! These wonderful figures were designed by our 2017 Y6 children and you might notice a genuine Nick Sharratt – Timothy Pope (Shark in the Park) is up there in an Abbey Gates uniform- can you spot him?
