REASONS TO BE CHEERFUL

PART ONE…

We are thrilled to be welcoming everyone back from Monday 8 March. The DfE have indicated that they will be sending out further information to schools by the end of this week so we will be in touch with the finer details to ensure health, safety and happiness.

PART TWO…

The governors have begun the recruitment process for the new Head Teacher. In the interim the school will be co-led from May 1st by Sam Taylor and Paul Summers. Both have been at the school for over 13 years and have demonstrated fine leadership qualities - Abbey Gates will be in good hands.

Both Sam and Paul will be out of class for the summer term and Y2 will be taught by Mrs Keeley Bowell and Mrs Emma O’Dea and F1 by Mrs Rachel Hallam and the FS team.

PART THREE…

We had a strong field of candidates for our teaching vacancies and are looking forward to welcoming Mr Ryan Frost as our Y6 teacher - Ryan is a musician and passionate about football - not Nottingham Forest but I’ll forgive him!

Our “new” Y5 teacher and KS2 Team Leader is … Gareth Rich. Yes, Gareth is returning to us in this senior role and will bring his new experiences and expertise. Welcome Back!

Both Ryan and Gareth will join us for a day to meet the children before their official start after Easter… Exciting times!

PART FOUR…

Thank you to all who stepped up to be a Parent Governor in the recent elections, it is good to know that parents want to work with us to ensure the best for the children.  Alex Dixon has been re-elected and will continue to share her passion and pragmatism with the governors and school team.

PART FIVE…

It is always sad to say goodbye to members of the Sunshine Band and we say Thank You for your care and commitment to Alison Hawley and Helen Day who have left the midday team. We welcome Chris Bosworth who will add to his role and care for KS2 over lunchtime. Keeping it in the family we also welcome Hannah Bosworth as our maternity cover Teaching Assistant in FS and KS1 until we welcome back Megan Kingswood (who is enjoying time with Freddie!)

So much to look forward to!

KATE CUMBERPATCH
