Newsletter - 28th July 2021

Posted on 28th July 2021

Dear Parents,

WOW! Once again, we are approaching the end of another academic year…and what a year it has been! As we write our final newsletter as Acting Headteachers, it is with great pride that we look back on everything that ALL of our children have achieved over the past year and we could not be more proud of them. They make Abbey Gates a school like no other and every day they continue to remind us why we all love working in this wonderful school. THANK YOU!

We would like to thank the staff for all their hard work this year. Every single member of the team here has given their absolute all through a year of many changes. We could not ask to work with more supportive, committed, creative, resilient and dedicated people. Thank you to each of them and to the many families who sent in messages of support – they are appreciated. THANK YOU!

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you, our parents, for all your support throughout a year that has truly been like no other. A great deal of what we do in school cannot be achieved without you and your support – so THANK YOU!

Goodbye….part 1

It has been such a joy (if not an emotional experience!) to see the Y6 children preparing for their end of term celebrations over the past few weeks. Today is the day that we finally say goodbye and we could not be more proud of every single one of these wonderful young people.

They have been on an incredible journey throughout their time at Abbey Gates and they have so much ahead of them to look forward to. Remembering our 5Cs will, we hope, lead to happiness and success. We ask them to look after each other and themselves. We say goodbye and thank you to our Y6 parents too for all that you have done to help to shape our school. Thank you for your support and care. Thank you for giving us your time, expertise and ideas – and most of all, thank you for giving us your children.

Goodbye…part 2!

As you know, we say goodbye to Rachel Hallam, Sam Haywood and Ryan Frost who will be leaving us at the end of term. To say we will miss these incredible people is an understatement but we wish each of them the best of luck as they continue their journeys and share their joy and passion for teaching/leading in their new schools. We have been lucky to work with you and now your new schools are lucky to have you. Good luck… we will miss you all!

We are thrilled that Hannah Bosworth, Sarah Woolley and Rita Rivis will continue to work as part of the Abbey Gates team in September. We also (briefly!) welcome back Cathy Jordan and Flick Hatton who will be covering Mr Rich’s paternity leave in Y6 early in the Autumn Term (dates tbc!)

Looking Ahead…

As things continue to change so rapidly, we are not yet able to confirm arrangements for September. We will however be in touch before the start of the Autumn Term with more information and we very much look forward to continuing the Abbey Gates journey with our new headteacher – Abi Quant Epps. We can’t wait to welcome you all back on Friday 3rd September.
