What a fabulous way to start a school year! A visit from a celebrity.
We had a great week learning about Nick and his work and preparing our own Pirates, Pants and Wellyphants exhibition. It was brilliant to have Nick in school and he even tweeted some of our work! Thanks to all who bought books on the day, Nick donated 10% of his profits to school!
We also enjoyed our trip to the Mansfield Museum, where we got to see Nick’s exhibition for ourselves.
Our annual PTA AGM was held last week, with a new committee elected. Caroline Hopkin takes the Chair, with Lisa Minto as Vice Chair, Karyn Robson as Treasurer and Gill Smith as Secretary. Thank you ladies for your support.
We already have fabulous events planned, such as Bingo & Bubbles on Friday 7th October and Quiz Night on Friday 11th November. The next PTA meeting will be held on Monday 17th October at 7pm in the community room. Please join us.
Congratulations to all of the children who took part in this year’s Robin Hood Mini Marathon. You flew the flag for Abbey Gates and the team managed some quick times and high places! Thanks to Helen Hegarty for your organisation and coordination! Thanks to all who sponsored the team.
You may have noticed that works are continuing to improve the outdoor provision for our Foundation children. The Foundation playground is almost complete and the canopy has been installed in F1.
Please be aware that workmen will continue to be on site for the next few weeks.
Children will no longer need to bring in their own footballs from home for break and lunch times. Each class will be provided with footballs for their use on the field and playground.
MACMILLAN COFFEE MORNING
What a fantastic event! Many thanks to all who attended this year’s Macmillan Coffee morning, a charity close to my heart. Bacon cobs sold well, cakes were a plenty and the choir were beautiful as always. Many thanks to Lisa Tongue, our chef, for her support! Thanks also to the PTA for their behind the scenes help, Leanne and Helen for their shopping skills and all who donated raffle prizes. Thanks to all of you who attended or purchased raffle tickets to help us raise a marvellous £775!
A fantastic start to the cross country season in school. Both boys and girls teams came second out of 15 schools- we had lots of top 10 placed medal winners!
We look forward to forthcoming meets- come on Abbey Gates!
Exciting news! We are eagerly awaiting delivery of our new sports kits in school. Many thanks to Phil Scott-Spencer Builders, Select1 Construction Ltd and Zentrum for their amazing contributions.
A further thanks to Adam’s Opticians, Arnold for their kind sponsorship of the school council hoodies.
REMINDER- PE KIT
A reminder that PE kit should consist of:
White/ red t-shirt
Black shorts or joggers

Lisa, our chef, will be selling products at break times for the children in school. Please look out for further information soon with regards to classes and days.
School shop has re-opened! Each Wednesday, children from Y5 will be selling products to the rest of school. Pen toppers, stretchy men and popping footballs are a must! Maximum price 50p.
