We would like to invite you to the Abbey Gates PTA Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Friday 13th November at 2pm, here is the link (http://tiny.cc/pao1tz). Due to current restrictions, this meeting will take place by Zoom / MS Teams. During the meeting, the treasurer will present the annual financial report, the current committee will step down and a new committee will be elected. Due to work commitments, the current committee members do not wish to be re-elected and so school is looking for a brand new team to take forwards the work of the PTA.
PTA will understandably look very different for the foreseeable future but we fully believe that it can play an important and active role in school life. Abbey Gates PTA has organised some great events over the last decade involving parents, the school staff, the local community and most importantly, the children. Last year the committee has tried to bring a child centred focus to its events which resulted in some great fun and some fabulous funds raised. We hope that some of this can continue in some way going forwards with an emphasis on maintaining some normality for the children in these challenging times.
As the PTA is a registered charity a committee must have at least 3 trustees – Chair, Vice Chair / secretary and treasurer. These are the only elected roles on the committee and there are other more informal supporting roles such as fundraising team, disco team and event helpers. There is no obligation for the PTA to raise a minimum amount of money. Any parent, teacher or non teaching member of the school can be nominated for any of the roles and those attending the AGM can vote on who the new committee will be.
We have attached some information about each of the roles. If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to contact the office who will be able to put you in touch with the current committee. If you wish to be nominated, would you please contact the Abbey Gates office to let us know.
If you wish to attend the AGM, please respond to this email and we will forward you the details about how to join.
