School Council Competitions
Posted on 3rd May 2012
The School Council would like to run two exciting competitions over the next few weeks.
Young Photographer Competition
Every year, the School Council receives information from the Ravenshead Rotary Club about a Young Photographer Competition, which all schools in the area take part in.
The competition is for 7-11 year olds and children need to send in their creative photographs based around this year’s theme of ‘Birds, Animals, Reptiles and Insects. Children may wish to write reasons for their entry on the back of the photo. The prize for the best photo from each school will be £10, with two runner-up prizes of £5 each.
Please send your entries into school before Friday 25th May.
Paint a picture to meet the Queen
The Lord Lieutenant of Nottinghamshire, Sir Andrew Buchanan, along with the Nottingham Post, is inviting one primary-school aged child to present Her Majesty the Queen with the official posy of flowers, when she and the Duke of Edinburgh visit Nottingham on 13th June as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
To win this honour of a lifetime, children across the county have been asked to paint a picture of the Queen or of something to mark her Diamond Jubilee. As part of the prize, the winner will also receive an outfit to be worn on the day.
The painting will need to be portrait-style and A4 sized. Any materials may be used. The only condition is that it must be something connected to the Queen or to mark the Diamond Jubilee in some way.
Please submit your child’s entry into school by Friday 11th May.
We look forward to seeing all of the entries. Please encourage your child to take part in these exciting competitions as it is a wonderful opportunity for us to be imaginative and creative!
