Year 6 Football vs Hillside

Posted on 21st March 2012

Prior to the game there was a large amount of tension as Abbey Gates had previously played Hillside in the away in the league and lost 3-2! Abbey Gates had a slight advantage with playing at home but it was a knockout game so whoever won was through to the next round.

Hillside started the game and quickly pressed forward only to be stopped by Joe who then started an Abbey Gates attack which lead to nothing.

The game slowly went still with the score 0-0, both teams were having a fair number of shots on goal. However Abbey Gates broke the deadlock from a tremendous ball from Adam W put Henry through to score. He slotted the ball passed the keeper into the back of the net, it was a clinical finish which went through the keeper’s legs. The crowd went wild. Five minutes later the whistle blew for half time.

Hillside came off the pitch frustrated because before the game they thought they would repeat their previous success but Abbey Gates had proved them wrong. Both teams went out nervous and eager to get on with the match, which team would win it in the end?

Abbey Gates started the second half. The ball was kicked forward by Jamie V, which led to a counter attack. Abbey Gates received a free kick on the edge of the box. Henry stepped up confidently and the ball went into the bottom corner of the net, 2-0. Now Abbey Gates started to dominate.

A couple of minutes later Hillside had a chance but Lochlann had it covered. Thomas was winning lots of headers and creating lots of passing football. The game slowly went by, fans were getting even more nervous.

Finally the whistle blew! Abbey Gates won the match 2-0. The players shook hands while Abbey Gates were still celebrating.

Abbey Gates go through to the Semi Final of the cup. Hopefully they can repeat their performance in the next round.
