About the PTA
Parents and Teachers Association (PTA)
1. What do we do?
We help raise funds for the school through a variety of activities and events e.g Summer Fair, Quiz Night, and School Disco.
2. Who are we?
We are you! Every teacher, parent and carer of a child at the school form the PTA. Caroline Hopkin (parent) is the Chair and Kate Cumberpatch (Head Teacher) is the President. Everyone is welcome.
3. What are the funds used for?
As many “extras” as we can possibly manage! Previous ‘buys’ have ranged from laptops to the fantastic light and sound system in the hall. Our activity is crucial.
4. How often do we meet?
We usually meet once a month at the school or more often if there’s a big event coming up. We announce dates through Parentmail, our Facebook page and here on the website.
5. How committed do I have to be?
You can do as much or as little as you like. You can attend any or all of the PTA meetings, work on a specific event or just help out on event days. Time is precious for all of us so any time you give is massively appreciated!
6. Do I need any special skills?
Yes, to want to have fun! The most important thing is just enjoying being involved. We have a new PTA team this year who really want your ideas and input to make this year as succesful as possible.
7. How do I join?
You are a member already! Check out Parentmail, Facebook (Abbey Gates Primary School PTA) or the minutes for meeting dates and specific requests for help. We would love to see you soon!
